Notes
- Employees who use Exchange can find relevant information under Exchange. Are you an employee and not sure whether you manage your e-mails with IMAP or Exchange? Please contact your IT representative.
- Students manage their e-mails with IMAP.
Sending, receiving and organising e-mails: Webmail, app
You can send, receive and organise your e-mails in the following ways:
- in the browser via Webmail
- with an e-mail app: user guides Setting up IMAP e-mail account
Check your e-mails regularly so you don’t miss any important messages from the University of Vienna. You can also set up forwarding.
E-mail attachments
Note the restrictions when sending e-mail attachments:
- Maximum size of an e-mail is 50 MB. Maximum file size of attachments is approximately 35 MB per e-mail.
- Password encrypted archive files (e.g. ZIP) cannot be identified by the virus scanner. Therefore, sending them is not possible.
- Office files with activated macros (e.g. DOCX) are not possible due to security reasons.
When sending these files, you will receive an error message. Instead, use the FileSender or u:cloud.
