Setting up Exchange in iOS or iPadOS

This user guide will help you, as an employee, set up the University of Vienna’s Exchange service on your iOS or iPadOS device.

You will then be able to manage your university e-mails, calendars, contacts, reminders, and notes using your iOS or iPadOS device.

Note

Students use the user guide under e-mail management with IMAP.

Requirement

A valid, initially set up Exchange account at the University of Vienna.

  1. Settings – Apps – Mail – Mail Accounts – Add Account – Microsoft Exchange
  2. Enter e-mail address – Configure manually – enter u:account password
  3. Server: owa.univie.ac.at, Domain: d, u:account UserID and password
  4. Activate desired elements – Save

Detailed user guide

1. Adding account

  1. Open Settings ⚙ on your device.
  2. Select the Apps category and then Mail.
  3. Tap Mail Accounts.
  4. Select Add Account. If you have not yet set up an e-mail account, this step will be skipped.
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange from the list of e-mail account providers.

2. Setting up account

  1. Enter your e-mail address of the University of Vienna: firstname.lastname@univie.ac.at (example: jamie.doe@univie.ac.at)
  2. Tap Next.

In the next window select Configure manually.

Enter the following data:

Tap Next.

3. Enter account details

Enter the following data:

  • Server: owa.univie.ac.at
  • Domain: d
  • Username: the userID of your u:account (example: doejamie99)
  • Password: the corresponding password

Confirm with Next.

4. Selecting elements and saving

  1. Select which items (Mails, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, or Notes) on your device you want to manage with the Exchange account.
  2. Click Done to set up the new Exchange account.
