u:account for non-members

Your u:account consists of

  • your userID and
  • a password of your choosing.

When you set up a u:account, an e-mail address will be created simultaneously.

Not only University of Vienna students and employees but also non-members of the University (guests, visitors, academic cooperation partners, company employees carrying out work at the University) have the opportunity to obtain a u:account userID and access certain ZID services for a limited time period.

Two options (roles) are possible

  • The standard role gives you access to the data network - via eduroam (Wi-Fi) and VPN. Through the My u:account web screen it is also possible to change your password and to retrieve information on your own UserID.
  • The extended role offers e-mailing (with the option of forwarding e-mails to an external address), file services, the use of computer rooms and the e-learning platform Moodle. The extended role is also needed if the UserID will be used for the registration of managed PCs of organisational units and subunits.
