Software for students

Students of the University of Vienna can purchase selected software at attractive prices via AcadCloud.

In addition, students of the University of Vienna who have an active u:account can acquire a free version of Microsoft 365 Apps.

 New software

There is new software available for students:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro and many more apps
  • think-cell: creating PowerPoint charts quickly and easily (free)

Software via AcadCloud is only available to students of the University of Vienna who have an active u:account. You cannot log in using an employee u:account.

Placing an order

Students can order all products in AcadCloud, a portal for ordering software by the company SoftwareONE.

Please check the product details, such as language, operating system, platform, as well as the product information and system requirements before placing your order

The following online payment options are available in AcadCloud:

  • Credit card
  • eps transfer


Place your order as follows:

  1. Open AcadCloud
  2. Click Login in the top right corner and log in using your valid u:account for students. Confirm that you have read the Datenschutzerklärungen (privacy statement) and click Weiter (continue).                                                         
  3. By selecting the Products menu or using Search for a product, the available products are displayed.
  4. Select the desired product and click the Add to cart button.
  5. Click the shopping cart symbol and check your order.
  6. If you are eligible to purchase the relevant product, the Checkout button is displayed. 
  7. Click Checkout and continue by following the ordering process. First, you have to agree to the terms of license in Disclaimers to proceed with your order.
  8. By clicking the Purchase € … button, you complete your order of free products. If you are ordering products that are subject to a fee you have to choose a payment method at the next step and agree to the respective declarations of consent.
  9. summary of your order is being displayed. Make sure to check it carefully before completing your order.
  10. By clicking the Purchase € … button, you will be redirected to the relevant payment service provider. Make sure that the pop-up blocker is deactivated and that the firewall settings do not prevent pop-up windows of the payment service provider from opening.
  11. Enter the relevant data for credit card or eps transfer payment.
  12. Your payment will then be checked. If it has been successful, you will be redirected to AcadCloud. After that you will receive an order confirmation via e-mail.

 Note

Do not close the pop-up window of the payment service provider before the payment is made. Do not switch to other web pages during the payment procedure. Wait until the payment has been completed.

You can access your data and orders in AcadCloud at any time.

By logging into AcadCloud with your u:account, your first and last name is being transferred for the order. You can enter the billing address during the ordering process by yourself

Approving an order

After successful payment you have to approve the order within 14 days in AcadCloud. The buttons for approving or rejecting an order are being displayed right after the completion of your order in the upper area of the order summary. 

  • If your order is correct, you can complete it by clicking the button Approve Order even before your 14 day time limit for the revocation of the contract expires. By this you agree that you lose your right of revocation and that the ZID starts with the fulfilment of the contract before the deadline of the revocation. The fulfilment of the contract consists in the sending of the product key or serial number and the download link, which are necessary for the use of the software.
  • If you have placed an incorrect order (i.e. wrong operating system) you can use your right of revocation. Click on the button Reject Order to do so.
  • You can also decide later within the 14 day time limit. Go to your user account in AcadCloud and choose the menu item Orders. There you see an overview of your orders including their status. If the status says Pending Approval you can make your decision (Approve Order or Reject Order) after clicking on Details.
  • If you do not makedecision within the 14 day time limit the order will be approved automatically at the shown date. This is according to the right of revocation for the purchasing of digital content that is not stored on a physical data carrier.

Downloading software

After completing the payment and approval of your order, you will receive the following e-mails from SoftwareONE: 

  • Receipt
  • E-mail containing product key and download link for downloading the software 

You can also find this information in your user account in AcadCloud in the section Orders

  1. Open AcadCloud
  2. Click Login in the top right corner and log in using your valid u:account for students.
  3. Click on your name in the top right corner and choose the menu item Orders.
  4. You see an overview of your orders.
  5. Choose the desired order and click the button Details to the right.
  6. In Order Summary you find all details regarding your order, the product key and the possibility to download the software (button Download Software). 

 Note

Download links are only available for a limited amount of time. Download the software as soon as possiblelatest at the date stated at Expires. You have to buy the software again if you don’t download it in time.

You can use the accessible terminals at the computer rooms at the Neues Institutsgebäude (NIG) to save large download files on a flash drive.
