  • Why is my course not displayed in the u:stream web interface?

If you do not see any registered courses, first go to Neue Serie anmelden (Register new series). Make sure that the correct semester is selected. There you can register all courses for u:stream for which you are registered in i3v as a teacher or tutor. Administrators registered in i3v can register a course, but cannot make recordings or livestreams themselves. You can find instructions on how to register here.

  • I don't have a course or don't want to stream about my course. Can I still use u:stream?

If the lecture you want to record or the audio/video you want to upload is not related to a course, you can use a custom series. Staff members can register any number of custom series to u:stream, even if they are not involved in a course. The custom series gives you the same functionality as a course series.

To register a custom series to u:stream, go to Neue Serie anmelden (Register new series) and select Benutzerdefinierte Serie anlegen (Create custom series). For more information, click here.

  • Can I authorise other people to start a stream for my course?

All persons registered in i3v as teachers or tutors can register courses to u:stream and control streams. Staff members registered in i3v can register a course, but cannot make recordings or live streams themselves. They can also authorise other employees of the University of Vienna to carry out live streams or recordings. You can find instructions on how to do this here.

However, you cannot authorise staff members registered in i3v or persons with a u:account for guests. If such authorisation is necessary, please contact u:stream support.

  • Can published recordings or audios/videos be downloaded?

Once you have made your recordings or audios/videos available, students can view them via a player. A download is not offered by default. However, students can make downloads of published recordings comparatively easily with suitable software. The ZID cannot prevent this technically.
Access to provided recordings or audio/video is not password-protected. There is no technical control of who accesses a recording or livestream.
