The IT for Science Forum was created to be a platform to present researchers with current IT solutions and trend-setting developments and projects in the field of IT that can support them in their research work.
The first event was dedicated to the two areas of IT for Open Science and Cloud. In his opening speech, Vice Rector Ronald Maier emphasised the importance of digitalisation for researchers at the University of Vienna:
„I am delighted to share in the conversations on research IT and its support with current infrastructure and services. The IT for Science Forum wants to be a platform that brings together researchers and professional research IT support staff in order to present solutions, share experiences and find new ways in the digitalisation of research, research-led teaching and knowledge transfer at the University of Vienna.“
CIO Ulf Busch also highlighted the role of the ZID in supporting IT for researchers at the University of Vienna:
„We at the ZID make sure that our IT services provide the best possible support to researchers in the fulfilment of their tasks. But the more functions IT fulfils, the more complex it gets. This is why its support requires competent experts and cooperation between all areas of expertise.“
More than 180 participants registered for the first forum. The feedback so far has been consistently positive. From this it can be concluded that the topic of IT for researchers is attracting a lot of interest.
