AI services of the ZID
Chat applications
The ZID provides chat applications with artificial intelligence:
- u:ai is an AI software, operated for academic purposes. In addition to sending requests to the chatbot, it is also possible to generate images, translate texts and analyse documents.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat with Enterprise Data Protection is a standalone chat application from Microsoft.
Chat applications can, for example, help with the following tasks:
- providing information, explanations or tips
- creating, optimising or analysing texts
- translating texts
- performing mathematical calculations
- programming software code

Software with AI functions
Numerous software products with integrated AI functions are already available through the Software for employees and Software for students service, such as Adobe, Atlas.ti, Mathematica, MATLAB, MAXQDA.
Other products for employees:
- DeepL: The AI-based translation software DeepL can translate individual words and sentences as well as entire documents and is available in the browser or as an app. Included functions are context-related translation suggestions as well as the customisation of terms and style preferences.
- Grammarly: The Grammarly software helps to improve the quality of English texts. It recognises and corrects spelling, grammar and punctuation errors and makes suggestions to improve style, clarity and comprehensibility. Grammarly is available in the browser, for Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
This offer is constantly being expanded following legal review.

The AI-supported ZID Searchbot helps you conveniently search the ZID websites. It provides precise and curated answers to your questions.
The Searchbot can be found at the bottom right of every ZID service page via the Searchbot icon.
