Terms and conditions for competitions
Participation
Members of the University of Vienna with their main residence in Austria are entitled to participate, unless otherwise stated in the competition. ZID employees are excluded from participating.
The prize will be awarded as described in the competition. If there are multiple entries, the winner will be chosen by lot, with no right of appeal. The prize cannot be exchanged or paid out in cash. Winners will be notified by the organisers by e-mail. If the winner does not respond within the set period, the prize will be forfeited without substitution. There is no right of appeal. Only one entry per person is allowed.
Data protection
By entering the competition, participants agree that the University of Vienna may collect, store and process personal data such as names and e-mail addresses in order to participate in the competition. The data will be cleared as soon as the purpose of the processing has been achieved and provided that there is no other legal retention period to the contrary.
Participants hereby declare that they have been informed about their rights (right of access, right to rectification, right to erasure, etc.) according to Art. 12–21 General Data Protection Regulation and that they have taken note of them.
Participants hereby declare that they provide this declaration of consent on a voluntary basis. They are also informed that consent can be revoked informally at any time with effect for the future without any adverse consequences for the participants. Participants can send their declaration of revocation to: University of Vienna, Universitätsring 1, 1010 Vienna.
In the event of a revocation, the University of Vienna will clear the data stored by the University of Vienna and any processors upon receipt of the declaration of revocation.
Liability
The University of Vienna is only liable for damages caused by intent or gross negligence. In particular, the University of Vienna does not guarantee that the competition will actually be accessible or that the offer will actually be available on the internet. The University of Vienna is not liable for any defects in the prizes donated by cooperation partners.
All information is provided without guarantee. The organiser is not responsible for the correctness of the participants' information (especially e-mail address and postal address). The participants themselves are responsible for the correctness, completeness and usability of the data they provide – false information is solely at their expense. If the respective prize cannot be delivered for reasons beyond the organiser's control, the organiser is not obliged to make a new delivery attempt.
The organiser shall not be liable for technical failures that result in the unavailability of the promotion, unless caused by intent or gross negligence. This also applies to any unavailability of the organiser's website.
The organiser and any companies involved accept no liability for data loss, in particular in the course of data transmission, and other technical defects.
Choice of law and miscellaneous
Austrian law applies, excluding the reference provisions of international private law. Should individual provisions of the terms and conditions of participation be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining terms and conditions of participation shall remain unaffected. They shall be replaced by an appropriate provision that most closely corresponds to the purpose of the invalid provision.
The competition is not connected to social networks such as META platforms (Facebook, Instagram) or LinkedIn and is in no way sponsored, supported or organised by the aforementioned social networks. The recipient of the data transmitted by participants via non-public channels and the information provided by participants via non-public channels is not META platforms or LinkedIn, but the University of Vienna.
