AI in practice
The following examples show how users at the university can use AI services. Prompting tips on the intranet (in German) help to formulate effective requests to chat applications.
Brainstorming, generating ideas
An employee is supposed to organise a competition for students and procure small prizes related to IT. She uses prompting in a chat application: Suggest 10 competition prizes that are suitable for students interested in IT and cost a maximum of 30 euros. The application provides suggestions for inexpensive competition prizes. If necessary, the employee can request further suggestions.
Possible tools:
Creating text
An employee is supposed to develop greetings for the opening of an AI event. He prompts in a chat application: Write an opening speech for a conference on artificial intelligence at the University of Vienna. Length: 250 words.
The text generated in this way is used as a framework. The generic information contained in it is replaced by specific names (e.g. of the speakers) and examples (e.g. of the topics of the lectures) and the language is adapted to the style of the University of Vienna and the specific speaker.
Possible tools:
Translating text
An employee wants to translate a text (such as an e-mail or a web page) into English. The German source text is inserted into the respective software and automatically translated.
Possible tools:
- Microsoft Copilot with Enterprise Data Protection
- Microsoft Translator in the Edge browser (free)
