Fair Use
You have been informed by text message that you have used up 75% or 100% of your fair-use data volume on your business phone. Here is what you can do now.
Limit exceeded again – what now?
If you regularly exceed your fair-use data volume, a different tariff is better suited to your requirements.
Use the Servicedesk form Diensthandy-Services ändern (Change business phone services, in German) to choose a different basic tariff or contact the business phone team by phone on +43-1-4277-14240.
What is the fair-use data volume?
The University of Vienna's business phone tariffs are based on the fair-use principle.
This means that there is a reference value for users, but no fixed upper limit for usage. Even if the fair-use reference value is exceeded occasionally, you will not incur any additional costs in Austria or when travelling throughout the EU.
However, fair-use tariffs only work in the long term if the tariff matches the usage behaviour.
That's why the ZID helps you to keep an eye on your data usage and sends you a text message when you have used 75% or 100% of the agreed data.
