Changing the SIM card
This user guide helps users to remove a physical SIM card from their end device and insert a new SIM card. This is necessary, for example, if the provider is changed. To change an eSIM, use the user guide Using a business phone with eSIM.
Removing the old SIM card
Switch off the mobile phone completely. If you are using a mobile phone cover, remove it.
Locate the SIM card tray: it is a small hole surrounded by an oval edge. Depending on the model, it may be located in a different place on the side of your device. Contact the manufacturer if you cannot find the SIM card tray.
Do not confuse the SIM card tray with a speaker or microphone opening.
Open the SIM card tray. To do this, carefully push a pointed object straight into the hole provided and apply light pressure until the tray is released from the holder.
Pull out the SIM card tray and remove the old SIM card. Cut up the old SIM card and dispose of it in the household waste.
Inserting a new SIM card
You have received a plastic card with the new SIM.
Press the new SIM card out of the plastic card. Make sure you select the correct format for the SIM card slot (standard, micro or nano).
Keep the plastic card in a safe place. It contains a scratch-off field that you can scratch off to see the PIN and PUK. The PIN is not activated.
Insert the new SIM card into the SIM card tray. Make sure that the card lies flat in the holder and that the bevelled corner of the card is in the designated position.
Carefully push the SIM card tray straight back into the device until it clicks into place.
Restart the phone.
The SIM card will now automatically connect to the new provider's network. You can make telephony calls immediately.
If desired, activate the voicemail box or call forwarding.
