Introduction
The u:ai service is an application that can be used via the web browser. It enables employees of the University of Vienna to interact with current versions of the LLM(1) ChatGPT from OpenAI(2) in the form of text chats. OpenAI only provides the LLM(1) in this context. No data is processed by OpenAI(2) .
The service is operated by ACOmarket under the name Academic AI on an Azure tenant from Microsoft(3) licensed by ACOmarket. The University of Vienna licences the service and enables access via single sign-on (SSO for short).
The hosted GPTs are intended to support employees of the University of Vienna as follows:
- Support for research activities through:
- linguistic and writing support to translate foreign-language texts in good quality
- preparing concepts in a short period of time
- data analysis, in particular recognising patterns in large amounts of data
- literature research, in particular to identify and summarise relevant studies, and
- promoting innovation either directly as the basis for further AI applications or as an ‘intelligent sparring partner’ for developing and testing new hypotheses.
- Support for teaching activities through:
- preparation of teaching content
- support in the preparation of learning materials, presentations, multiple-choice tests,...
- Support for administrative activities through:
- automated creation of templates for documents, forms, e-mails, FAQs,...
- linguistic and writing support for foreign-language texts
