u:connect wired – network socket

Employees and students of the University of Vienna can connect to the internet by cable via network sockets. You can find these sockets in almost all lecture halls and many libraries of the University of Vienna.

Connecting to the internet

You require an active student or employee u:account and the Wi-Fi password to log in. Your computer must have a network card. Please use a suitable patch cable.

  1. Connect your computer by plugging the cable into the network socket.
  2. Open a browser and enter any web address that begins with http (not with https). You will be automatically redirected to the log-in page. You can only access the log-in page, if your computer is plugged into a network socket.
  3. If the automatic redirection does not work, open the login page directly at https://wlan.cc.univie.ac.at.
  4. Enter your userID and the Wi-Fi password. You can check your Wi-Fi password under My u:account.

Disconnecting from the internet

Log out via the log-in page https://wlan.cc.univie.ac.at to prevent fraudulent use of your userID. You can only access the log-in page, if your computer is plugged in at a network socket.
