Ordering a Grammarly account for employees

This user guide will help you to obtain a Grammarly account for the University of Vienna via the self-service portal.

  1. Access the self-service portal (outside the university data network via VPN). Log in with u:account in the format u\UserID and password.
  2. Click on Catalog in the menu on the left and then on Accounts.
  3. Select Grammarly account and order the product.
  4. Once the order has been approved, a Grammarly account with a personal license is created.
  5. Your Grammarly account of the University of Vienna is:

    User name: u:account-UserID@univie.ac.at (for example, doejami1@univie.ac.at)
    Password: u:account password
  6. Activate Grammarly by opening the Grammarly website.
  7. Click Log in at the top right and enter your user name in the Email field. Click Continue.
  8. You will be redirected to the University of Vienna login page. Enter your user name again.
  9. Note: The registration process is analogous to that for Microsoft 365, including the required multi-factor authentication.
  10. Read the terms of use (in German) and make sure you are always signed in when using Grammarly.

 Note

Your Grammarly account allows you to access the Grammarly editor. You can use it to write and edit documents directly in your browser without having to install other applications.
