IT courses

Students can book IT courses of the ZID at low costs, while employees can do so free of charge. The course topics include Microsoft 365, studies and research, graphic design and audio/video as well as internet.

Since January 2025, the Moodle-based platform u:rise has been home of the university’s training programme, from various providers at the University of Vienna, for all of its target groups. The intuitive interface of this learning management system provides a good overview and enables smooth navigation and use, both on a PC and on mobile endpoint devices.

We invite you to explore u:rise and to browse the Communities to find the most interesting and relevant learning opportunities for you.

Please note: u:rise – a platform for all

Costs

Lectures are free of admission and publicly accessible.

You can find the costs in the detailed description of the IT course of your choice in u:rise.

Cancellations, deregistration

If the number of registered people is too low 14 days before the scheduled course date, the IT course may be cancelled. All participants who have already registered will receive a notification via e-mail.

If you have already paid for an IT course and it is cancelled, you will receive a refund of the fee paid in the form of a credit balance. You can use this credit balance to pay for another IT course. You can see the amount credited in u:rise under My bookings.

If you are unable to attend an IT course, you can cancel your registration up to 14 days before the start of the course. To do so, go to u:rise and under My bookings click Cancel purchase. This option is not available less than 14 days before the start of the course, as in this case the fee is to be paid in full. It is not possible to rebook for a different IT course.

If you would like the credit balance to be paid out, the ZID needs the following account details from you:

  • IBAN
  • Account holder

Send this information together with the request for repayment to training.zid@univie.ac.at. The repayment of the fee can take up to two weeks.

If you deregister from an course less than 14 days before the scheduled course date, you will have to pay 100 % of the fee. You cannot transfer the fee to another IT course.
