IT courses
The IT courses offered by the ZID are available for a small fee to students and employees of the University of Vienna. The course topics include Windows and Office, studies and research, graphic design and audio/video as well as internet and social media.

The lecturers teaching on the IT courses are experienced external trainers or employees of the University of Vienna. For further information, please read the detailed description of the IT course of your choice in the course database.

IT courses take place during the regular office hours.
Employees
IT courses by Talent Acquisition and Development
Employees of the University of Vienna have the opportunity to attend the IT courses offered by the ZID as well as the free IT courses offered by the Talent Acquisition and Development unit. These course offers are based on a cooperation between Talent Acquisition and Development and the ZID.
The course programme of Talent Acquisition and Development includes courses specifically targeted to the requirements of the University of Vienna, as well as courses from the course programme. A prerequisite for participation during working hours is the approval from your superior.
Selecting an IT course
You can find an overview of all courses in the course database (in German). If you have any further special wishes, please use the form IT-Kurse des ZID (IT courses of the ZID, in German).
Please note the required previous knowledge specified in the detailed description of the IT course of your choice and make a realistic assessment of your previous knowledge.
Registering for an IT course
To register for an IT course, you require an active u:account for students or employees.
Note
Only students and employees of the University of Vienna can register for webinars.
In order to use the course database, both an active internet connection and a VPN connection are required. The VPN user guides will help you to establish a connection.
- You can preregister in the course database (within uni network/via VPN) (in German) until 48 hours before the scheduled course date. After you have successfully preregistered, you will receive an e-mail with further information. Your registration for free courses is now complete.
- For a binding registration for fee-based courses, you have to pay the course fee online within 24 hours after preregistering. If you have not paid the course fee within 24 hours after preregistering, your preregistration will be deleted.
Waiting list
Many courses have a limited number of places. If the maximum number of participants has been reached, you can ask to be put on the waiting list. You will be notified if a free place is available.
Confirmation of participation
After having completed an IT course, all participants will receive a confirmation of participation.
Costs
Lectures are free of admission and publicly accessible.
Participants in IT courses have to pay a course fee. You have to pay this fee online within 24 hours after preregistering.
The following fees are normally charged for one-day IT courses:
- Students of the University of Vienna: EUR 30.00
- Employees of the University of Vienna: EUR 60.00

Cancellations, deregistration
If the number of registered people is too low 14 days before the scheduled course date, the IT course may be cancelled. All participants who have already registered will receive a notification via e-mail.
If you have already paid for an IT course and it is cancelled, the ZID will refund the course fee. The ZID uses the same payment method for refunds like in the original transaction process (credit card or bank transfer). It may take up to two weeks until you receive the refund.
If you deregister from a course less than 14 days before the scheduled course date, you will have to pay 100 % of the course fee. You cannot transfer the fee to another IT course.
