General

The University of Vienna assumes no liability for the content and data made available through the use of mailing lists. Furthermore, the University of Vienna does not guarantee the availability, functionality and usability of the mailing lists. The University of Vienna reserves the right to block users or mailing lists who violate these terms of use, among other things.

Purpose of use

The University of Vienna’s mailing lists may only be used for purposes that are directly related to research, teaching, projects, other university work and studies at the University of Vienna. Private use of the mailing lists is prohibited. Furthermore, the mailing list data may not be copied and used for other purposes. The sharing of advertising content, regardless of whether it is direct or indirect advertising, is not permitted. Furthermore, spamming e-mails and other content is not permitted. The users are not entitled to use the mailing lists in a form that is prohibited by laws, regulations or official orders or ordinances in a relevant legal system. Furthermore, the rights of other people should not be violated by the use of mailing lists of the University of Vienna.

Group of people and recipients

Only employees and students of the University of Vienna are allowed to operate mailing lists of the University of Vienna. Subscribing to the mailing lists may only be done by personal entry of the person concerned. Entries by administrators or entries that are made automatically are not permitted. Exceptions are the creation and administration of business mailing lists in the field of science, teaching and administration as well as mailing lists of the university's elected bodies.

Data protection

In the course of using mailing lists, the personal data of the persons entered in the mailing lists are processed. The following are the categories of personal data:

  • First name,
  • Family name,
  • E-mail address.

The data processing takes place on the basis of the consent of the persons concerned. The University of Vienna is responsible for processing personal data.
