Changing or returning Microsoft 365 subscription plan

This user guide helps employees to change or return a Microsoft 365 subscription plan via the self-service portal.

Changeing subscription plan

You can switch to another available Microsoft 365 subscription plan at any time. Return your existing Microsoft 365 subscription via the self-service portal and order the alternative product you want within 30 days.

Returning subscription plan


You can return Microsoft 365 at any time via the self-service portal.

  • If you have obtained the Connected Experience package, you must return it first.
  • After a return, your Microsoft account as well as your data in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) will be irrevocably deleted after 30 days. After deleting your Microsoft account, you will no longer be able to use Microsoft 365 including Teams at the University of Vienna.
  • Participation in Teams meetings is still possible via a guest link.
  • Before returning, back up any data you still need.

  1. Go to the self-service portal.
  2. Log in with your u:account-UserID in the format u\u:account-UserID and your u:account password. Outside the university data network you need a VPN connection.
  3. In the navigation area on the left, under My Computer, select My Services.
  4. Click on the product you want to return.


Click Return above the booking progress.

Confirm the return by clicking the Return button.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail with the subject New order: ORDxxx - Uninstall for xxx.

Once your Microsoft account has been deleted, you will receive an e-mail with the subject Order Deployed: ORDxxx - Uninstall for xxx.
