Prerequisites and login

This user guide explains the prerequisites for using TYPO3 and helps with logging into the TYPO3 system.

Prerequisites

  • Internet access
  • Popular browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Edge)
  • Cookies, JavaScript and pop-up windows enabled in the browser

Login

To edit content on your website, you have to log in to the so-called backend of TYPO3:

  1. Access backend.univie.ac.at in your browser.
  2. You will automatically be redirected to the weblogin of the University of Vienna. Enter your u:account userID and password and click on Anmelden.
  3. You will be redirected to TYPO3.

Only authorised persons can access the backend to edit the website. Every new TYPO3 website requires an editor who becomes the authorised administrator. They can then authorise further editors, who are allowed to edit the website, and pass on the administration rights.

The frontend refers to the webpages, i.e. the actual website (with all its subpages), which the web server displays when users enter the URL, i.e. the web address.
