Identity – centralised login
Identity is a central single sign-on page (SSO) for logging in to various web applications and IT services at the University of Vienna. Users can authenticate themselves with different forms of identification (such as their u:account or ID Austria) and thus gain access to all connected applications.
Logging in to a web application
- Open the desired web application directly.
- You will be automatically redirected to Identity at
identity.univie.ac.at. - Select your preferred login method:
- Weblogin: You will be automatically redirected to the Weblogin of the University of Vienna. Log in with the UserID of your u:account (example: doejamie99) and the corresponding password.
- ID Austria: You will be automatically redirected to the ID Austria login page. Authenticate yourself with your ID Austria.
- You will get an overview of the personal details (such as first and last name, e-mail address) that are passed on to the requested web application. If you cancel at this point, no details will be passed on. You will therefore not be able to use the application.
- You will be automatically redirected to the requested web application.
You now have access to this and other connected web applications without having to log in again.
Note
Do not use Identity if you are working with a device that is not trustworthy, such as a public PC at a hotel or internet café. Ensure you use the private mode of the browser on these devices.
This mode is also recommended if you log in to someone else’s trustworthy device or if your device is used by other persons.
