Citavi

This user guide helps you to install and license Citavi.

Hinweise

  • The software is not free. Please order it via AcadCloud.
  • The licence expires after 1 year from the date of activation; after that, you will need to purchase a new licence.

Installing Citavi

  1. To install Citavi, download the software from AcadCloud or directly from the Citavi website.
  2. You will receive either an EXE, MSI, ZIP or ISO file; on macOS, you may also receive a PKG or DMG file.
  3. Proceed as follows, depending on the file type:
    • EXE, MSI, PKG, DMG: Double-click the file to run it.
    • ZIP: Extract the ZIP file. To do so, copy the files in the ZIP archive to a folder on your hard disk or right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All... Then run the installation file (EXE, MSI, PKG or DMG file) by double-clicking it.
    • ISO: Double-click the file to run it. Then start the installation by double-clicking the installation file (EXE, MSI, PKG or DMG file).
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

Licensing Citavi

Once installation is complete, launch the software. Click on Log in.

A browser window will open. Click on Continue with University.

Enter Universität Wien here and then select it in the drop-down.

Now click on Student.

Enter the voucher code you received when purchasing the software from AcadCloud.

Now enter your u:account email address and then click Next.

Citavi will send you a confirmation link by e-mail.

Check your e-mails within the next 72 hours – for example, via webmail or, if you forward your e-mails to a private e-mail address, via your private e-mail account. If necessary, also check your spam folder. Then click on the corresponding confirmation link.

Have a confirmation code sent to you and enter it in the next window.

Fill in the following details

  • First name
  • Surname
  • Any chosen password

Switch back to the Citavi software and log in with your account.

Renewing your licence

The licence you purchased from AcadCloud is valid for one year from the date of activation. If the ZID has renewed its contract with the manufacturer and you are still a student at the University of Vienna, you can renew your licence as follows:

  1. Order another Citavi licence from AcadCloud.
  2. You will then receive another voucher code by e-mail.
  3. Log in to https://www.citavi.com/ at the top right with your Citavi account.
  4. Go to Licences on the left and then to Assigned to me.
  5. On the right, you will now see a text with the link Enter the voucher code you received from your organisation to renew the licence. Enter the new voucher code there.
