MATLAB

This user guide helps you to install and license MATLAB.

Notes

  • The software is not free. You can order it from AcadCloud.
  • If you have downloaded the software in a ZIP archive, unpack the files to your hard disk before the installation. To do so, copy the files in the ZIP archive to a folder on your hard disk or right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All ...

  1. Order the software from AcadCloud.
  2. Then send an e-mail to software.zid(at)univie.ac.at with the subject Allocation of a license for MATLAB, stating:
    • u:account e-mail address
    • Student ID number
  3. You will receive a notification via e-mail as soon as the account has been created at Mathworks.

You will also receive an e-mail from MathWorks with a link to set a password for your MathWorks account. Click on Passwort festlegen (set password).

Set a password for your MathWorks account and click Update.

You will then be asked to log in to MathWorks with your u:account e-mail address and accept the Online Services Agreement.

You can now download the software from the MathWorks website by clicking on your initials in the top right-hand corner and then on My Account. Download the software by clicking on the download icon next to your license. 

Download the software for your operating system by clicking on the blue button labeled Download for Windows/macOS/Linux.

Start the installation by

  • running the downloaded EXE file on Windows
  • opening the downloaded DMG image on macOS and running the InstallForMACOSX.app program
  • extracting the downloaded ZIP file into a separate folder on Linux and then running the install file

Then log in with your Mathworks account and follow all further steps according to the software instructions.
