SPSS Statistics

This user guide helps you to install and license SPSS Statistics.

Requirements

  • You have purchased the software via AcadCloud.
  • For the installation: You have an active Internet connection.

Notes

  • Using the authorisation code that you received, you can activate SPSS Statistics only once and only on 1 device.
  • If a network licence or an older version of the program is already installed on your device, you have to uninstall it first.
  • Make sure your firewall or any other software does not prevent the communication with the licence server.
  • You only need an Internet connection to license the software, but not to operate it.
  • You do not need to register on the websites of SPSS.
  • After the installation, you may not change the system date of your computer anymore.
  • The licence expires 1 year after you activated it. Afterwards, you have to obtain a new licence.

1. Installing SPSS Statistics

  1. Download the relevant installation file from AcadCloud.
  2. You will receive either a EXE, MSI, ZIP or ISO file; on macOS, you may also receive a PKG or DMG file.
  3. Proceed as follows, depending on the file type:
    1. EXE, MSI, PKG, DMG: Double-click the file to run it.
    2. ZIP: Extract the ZIP file. To do so, copy the files in the ZIP archive to a folder on your hard disk or right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All.... Then run the installation file (EXE, MSI, PKG or DMG file) by double-clicking it.
    3. ISO: Double-click the file to run it. Then start the installation by double-clicking the installation file (EXE, MSI, PKG or DMG file).
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

2. Licensing SPSS Statistics

  1. If the installation was successful, a window should appear. 
    If necessary, you can also start the licensing manually:
    • Windows: Search for IBM SPSS Statistics XX License Authorization Wizard, where XX stands for the software version number. Run the program.
    • macOS: Search for SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard and run the program.
  2. Select the first option Authorized user license….
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the authorisation code that you received when purchasing the software from AcadCloud.
  5. Click Add and then Next.
  6. The authorisation code will now be validated. An active internet connection is required for this step.
  7. Click Next and Finish.
