Scanning on a u:print device
Requirement
A validated u:card with credit loaded on it. After validation, it can take up to 5 hours for the card to be activated for payment at the u:print devices.
Scanning and saving to the personal storage space
You can use the Scan and Send function to scan a document and save the scanned file to your personal storage space.
- Log in to the u:print device – Scan and Send
- Place the document on the platen glass or use the automatic document feeder – MyFolder – OK – (Optional: adjust scan settings) – Start – Once all documents have been scanned: Start Sending
1. Selecting the scan function
- Log in to a u:print device. If necessary, refer to the user guide.
- Tap the Scan and Send button on the touchscreen.
2. Scanning
- Place the desired original on the platen glass or use the automatic document feeder. Please note that you can only place flawless originals in the automatic document feeder. These originals must not be
- stapled,
- rolled,
- wrinkled or
- bound with paper clips.
- Tap the MyFolder button in the top left corner.
- Tap the OK button in the bottom right corner to confirm.
- Adjust the scan settings if necessary.
- Tap the Start button at the bottom right to start scanning.
Tap the Start Sending button once you have scanned all your documents. Your scans will then be saved in your profile in the scans folder:
- To find out how to access this folder from other devices, see Personal storage space.
- You have full rights to this folder and can delete or copy the files it contains.
- Your scans are not automatically deleted. Therefore, please pay attention to your storage space limit.
Note
You can use the Send to Myself function to send the scans to your own email address. This function is not supported by the ZID. Please note:
- This function only works for small scan files (maximum 10–15 pages).
- Large files are rejected by the mail server and therefore not delivered. You will not receive an error message.
- Log in to the u:print device – Insert the USB data storage medium on the right-hand side of the device – Home – Scan and Store – Memory Media (A:) – Select the folder where you want to save the scans
- Place the document on the platen glass or use the automatic document feeder – Scan – (Optional: Adjust scan settings) – Start – Start Storing
- Tap the Eject icon ⏏ – Remove – OK – OK – Remove USB data storage medium
1. Using USB data storage medium and selecting scan function
- Log in to a u:print device. If necessary, refer to the user guide.
- Insert the USB data storage medium into the USB port on the right side of the device.
- Tap the Scan and Store button.
- Your USB data storage medium will be listed as Memory Media (A:). Select it by tapping the corresponding entry.
- Select the folder where you want your scans to be saved. Tap the Up button to move to the next higher level. If you do not select a folder, your scanned files will be saved on the lowest level.
2. Scanning

- Tap the Scan button at the bottom right.
- Adjust the scan settings if necessary.
- Tap the Start button at the bottom right to start scanning.
Adjusting scan settings
By default, scans are saved in PDF format with a resolution of 300×300 dpi.
You can adjust the scan settings by tapping the corresponding buttons, for example:
- Select Color: Select colour or black-and-white
- Resolution: Adjust the resolution
- Copy Ratio: Adjust the size of the copy (increase or reduce)
- File Format: Select the file format (PDF, JPG, TIFF, XPS)
- File Name: Assign a file name of your choice (optional)
